Y A GEORGE III MAHOGANY, SATINWOOD AND EBONY STRUNG CYLINDER DESK CIRCA 1770 The cylinder top opening to reveal slide with ratcheted gilt tooled leather writing surface and an assortment of pigeon holes and drawers 106cm high, 100cm wide, 56cm deep Condition Report: Marks, scratches and abrasions commensurate with age and use. Some old chips, minor splits and losses. Some neat old veneer repairs. Some fading and discolouration. Some ink staining to drawers and below the ratchet top. The later leather in good useable order with some minor scratches, marks and wear. The mechanism works as intended but is a little sticky when pulling the slide out to its full length. A key is present and operates the locks to the drawers and the central lock for the cylinder mechanism. Excellent figuring to the drawers and cylinder front. Solid and stable overall.
