Toutes les enchères / Autres / Wolfs (2024) - George Clooney

The Original Hollywood Picture Car “Some cars are driven. Others become legends.” Some cars are built to take people from A to B. This BMW was built to keep millions of moviegoers on the edge of their seats. This is the original BMW 550i (E60) used during the production of the Apple Original film Wolfs, starring none other than George Clooney and Brad Pitt. Not a replica. Not a look-alike. Not a tribute. But an authentic Hollywood Picture Car, built by one of the most renowned special effects companies in the film industry. ⸻ From California to Hollywood This BMW began its life as a BMW 550i in California. For the production of Wolfs, the car was selected by Vehicle Effects, the company of legendary Hollywood vehicle builder Dennis McCarthy. For film enthusiasts, Dennis McCarthy hardly needs an introduction. His company provided the vehicles for, among others: * Fast & Furious * Transformers * Batman * CSI * NCIS * Jurassic World * Talladega Nights * Gone in 60 Seconds * and dozens of other international film and television productions. When Hollywood needs a car to play a leading role, chances are high that it comes from Dennis McCarthy's workshop. This BMW is no exception. ⸻ The shooting scene For one of the most spectacular scenes from Wolfs, this BMW was fully prepared as a so-called Picture Car. The entire bodywork was hand-painted with hundreds of realistic bullet holes. Not with stickers. Not with paint. But with professionally crafted film effects, such as those used exclusively in the film industry. The windshield was specially prepared. The bodywork was damaged. The headlights were modified. Every imperfection literally tells a part of the story that is shown on the silver screen. Where normal cars lose their value due to damage… …this car actually becomes more valuable because of every visible bullet impact. ⸻ A starring role on the silver screen During the filming of Wolfs, this BMW drives in the iconic shootout scene in which George Clooney and Brad Pitt are traveling together. The car literally forms one of the most important props of this action scene. Anyone who has seen the film immediately recognizes the characteristic hundreds of bullet impacts that give the BMW its unique appearance. After production, the car was not restored. Fortunately not. Because precisely because of this, it is still exactly as Hollywood left it today. ⸻ Remained hidden for a time After the film, this BMW disappeared from public view. No car shows. No restoration. No new paint job. No cosmetic modifications. The car remained in private ownership for years. Now it is being presented to the public again for the first time. Not as a used BMW. But as an authentic piece of film history. ⸻ A unique collector's car Every movie car is special. But only a small number of cars have actually played a recognizable role in an international Hollywood production. Even fewer cars are fully documented. And only a handful ever become available to private collectors. That makes this BMW exceptional. It is of interest to: * BMW collectors * movie collectors * Hollywood memorabilia * museums * investors * car collections * enthusiasts of special provenance. ⸻ The condition This BMW is still in its original movie configuration. The car starts and drives, but is naturally no longer legal to participate in traffic. The visible damage is part of the production and has been deliberately preserved. The car is emphatically not a restored example. That is precisely its charm. It tells exactly the same story as on the film set. The signs of wear and special effects present are part of its authenticity. ⸻ Documentation The car comes with documentation supporting its provenance, including public references to the film production and the previous auction listing. The buyer is advised to carefully retain this documentation as part of the vehicle's provenance. ⸻ Why this BMW is special Every BMW 550i features a powerful V8. But only one of them played a role alongside George Clooney and Brad Pitt. Only one was built by Dennis McCarthy. Only one still carries hundreds of original Hollywood bullet effects. And only one tells this story. ⸻ Concluding remarks Cars are often sold based on mileage. Or maintenance. Or options. This BMW is being sold based on something much rarer. A story. A story that began in California. Reached millions of people via Hollywood. And is now getting a new chapter. Perhaps in the collection of its next owner.
