Toutes les enchères / Livres, Cartographie & Manuscrits / William Shakespeare & F
Charming exemplar that brings together a selection of major texts by William Shakespeare in an edition associated with the French translation or adaptation by François-Victor Hugo and enriched with the compositions of Jean Gradassi, thus offering a meeting between Elizabethan theatre, French literature, and the art of modern illuminated manuscripts - The work reveals the different facets of Shakespeare's dramatic genius through works where tragedy, comedy, historical drama, passionate love, political ambition, jealousy, vengeance, madness, familial rivalries, and questions about the human condition intersect - The great figures created by Shakespeare appear here as complex characters, subjected to inner conflicts and to circumstances that test their beliefs, their feelings, and their relation to power - William Shakespeare & F. Victor Hugo / Jean Gradassi - The Masterpieces of Shakespeare - 1974 - A l'Enseigne du Chant des Sphères - 199 Pages. Very good condition of the binding, work in full Havana leather, under a case, the covers entirely covered with a blind floral decor on the front, enhanced with gold fillets and rosettes, reference of the decor on the back with five raised bands richly decorated with gold rosettes, gilt titling, top edge gilded - Very good interior condition, pretty headbands in the form of illustrations, text in a pretty decorative framing, work enriched with beautiful color illustrations by the miniaturist Jean Gradassi, with François-Victor Hugo’s translation, fine limited edition (only the twelfth volume is numbered, this one being the eleventh), marbled endpapers in very good condition, text clean, interior fresh - Delivery service guaranteed within a few days –
