Where You Started - Melissa McGill

Where You Started by Melissa McGill Painting 22.0 x 30.0 :: ""Where You Started"" | Acrylic on 88# Printmaking Paper | Changes Series Inspired by Terry Pratchett's words — ""Why do you go away? So that you can see the place you came from with new eyes and extra colors. And the people there see you differently too. Coming back to where you started is not the same as never leaving"" — and the luminous color fields of mid-century modern painting this abstract expressionist work explores the warmth and weight of origin. Rich earthy browns and tans anchor the composition while soft blues teal and flickers of yellow and green drift through transparent layers suggesting memory place and the passage of time. Loose stain painting techniques give the work an organic unforced quality unique to works on printmaking paper. Part of the Changes series — paintings about departure perspective and the extra colors life adds along the way. :: Type: Painting Medium: Acrylic Style: Abstract Expressionism Subject: Abstract Width: 22.0 Height: 30.0 Depth: 0.1 Weight: 1 lbs Framed: no :: All art on Zatista is original and signed.
