Toutes les enchères / Métaux / Wall decoration - Gallerie Uffizi - Magnificat - Italy - No reserve price

Beautiful decorative piece representing a reproduction of the famous Botticelli work, “Madonna of the Magnificat” (c. 1444-1510). This decorative representation draws inspiration from one of the most celebrated masterpieces of Italian Renaissance, Sandro Botticelli’s “Madonna of the Magnificat,” originally kept at the Uffizi Gallery (Galleria degli Uffizi) in Florence. This round work, called a tondo, was reproduced in various forms and could be offered as a souvenir or decorative object in Italy in the mid-20th century. The craftsmanship and finish reflect a typical Italian production of that era: a simply gold round wooden frame, with a deliberately patinated and aged finish. The frame ornaments are handmade, giving the piece extra artisanal charm. This is not an original Botticelli work, but a decorative reproduction. Its interest lies in its aesthetic homage to the great Renaissance masters as well as in its classic, timeless look, which can easily find a place in a traditional or academic-style interior. The image is executed on a wooden support, and the frame is also wooden. The frame decorations are handmade. On the back is the number 586B, as well as an original label bearing the inscription: “Sandro BOTTICELLI 1444-1510 “Magnificat” Gallerie Uffizi, Firenze”. Details: Artist represented: Sandro Botticelli, Work: “Madonna of the Magnificat,” Original work date: c. 1444-1510 Reproduction period: mid-20th century, about 1950–1960, Origin: Italy, Materials: Wood, gilded finish, wood print.
