A0000005283 Sovereign and very exclusive vintage writing set Wahl-Eversharp Symphony in its sought-after Standard / Special variant (modern reference c. 1950-1953). This elegant collectible set consists of a fountain pen and its matching mechanical pencil, both crafted in a glossy noble dark green resin (Deep Green / Evergreen) that unifies body and cap in a stylized, minimalist silhouette, only interrupted by the shine of the bands and the gold-plated flat clips of high quality. The fountain pen (image 5841194869215399358_121.jpg) stands out for its balanced executive dimensions of 13.7 cm in length and 1.1 cm in diameter. It features its original faceted clip where the factory vertical seal "EVERSHARP" crowned by the inscription "MADE IN USA" is clearly legible (image 5841194869215399365_121.jpg). It sports its original 14-karat solid gold nib, neatly stamped "EVERSHARP / MADE IN USA" (image 5841194869215399361_121.jpg), internationally renowned for its delicious elastic flex. It operates via the classic historic lever-filler system (Lever Filler) (image 5841194869215399364_121.jpg). The matching pencil features a stylized fluted conical gold-plated tip and operates by a precise twist mechanism. A top-tier aesthetic set, in excellent condition and fully operational. Condition: Collectible Quality / Excellent Vintage Condition Considering the elapsed time, the set remains in an enviable, almost magazine-worthy state: Dark Green Resin Standard Chassis: Both the body and the resin caps of both pieces retain a flawless, mirror-like polish that is very uniform (image 5841194869215399355_121.jpg). Free of stress cracks in the threads, severe pressure marks, or typical discolorations. Gold-Plated Components: Magnificent condition. The cap bands and the flat clips (image 5841194869215399365_121.jpg) retain their gold plating intact, bright and with no material loss due to friction (brassing). 14K Gold Nib: In fantastic condition (image 5841194869215399361_121.jpg). The nibs are perfectly aligned with respect to the ebonite feeder, without bends or cracks in the breather hole, ready to deliver a smooth, expressive writing with great response. Filling Mechanisms: The fountain pen’s side lever (image 5841194869215399364_121.jpg) moves with total firmness and smoothness, applying the correct pressure to the internal tension bar. The pencil’s twist mechanism responds with total precision, ejecting the lead fluidly. Curious Fact for Collectors For appraisers and Catawiki experts, Eversharp Symphony sets in this Standard configuration with a matching resin cap are highly sought-after pieces by purists due to their aesthetic homogeneity and their rarity in today’s market compared to the common chrome versions. Launched in the late stage of the series to offer a more sober, purist design, the Standard version maintains the house of Chicago’s excellent mechanical standards, including those 14-karat gold nibs of extraordinary elasticity that made its rivals pale. Presenting a fully operable double set, free of cracks and in such a crisp state of conservation, is an absolute guarantee of success for high-end collectors in Europe. Wishing you the best of luck with your bids and an excellent auction to all Catawiki participants!
