Toutes les enchères / Jouets & Collections / Voiture de course ancienne en bois peint - Toy car - 1930-1940 - Europe
Single-seat racing car – Antique solid wood toy, painted – Circa 1930–1950 Ancient miniature solid wood racing car, painted, evoking the Grand Prix single-seaters of the first half of the 20th century. This toy features an elongated body carved from a single block of wood, with a rounded front, a squared-off rear, and an open cockpit. The stripped silhouette evokes competition cars of the interwar period, with their external wheels and individual cockpit. The body retains its orange-red paint, while the four wheels and the steering wheel are painted black. The wheels, probably turned wood, rotate freely around two fixed axles. The steering wheel, also wooden, is fixed and firmly integrated into the cockpit. The robust design and simple geometric shapes testify to a manufacture prioritizing sturdiness and toy functionality. The object bears no identifiable maker’s mark. Its dating to circa 1930–1950 is suggested on the basis of style and construction features. Dimensions: Length: 30 cm. Overall width, including wheels: 16 cm. Maximum height, steering wheel included: 10 cm. Weight: about 1 kg. Condition: Good used antique condition. The body shows pronounced patina, with numerous rub marks, scratches, and paint wear exposing the wood in places. The wheels and steering wheel also show wear consistent with the body. All four wheels are present and functional. The steering wheel is fixed. An old patinated scratch is visible on the front of the body. No restoration or recent intervention apparent. The item is presented in its antique state, with no repainting or restoration carried out by the seller. The photographs are an integral part of the description and allow precise appreciation of its condition.
