Even after so many pieces of jewellery that we have purchased, measured, checked and described for you: The fascination of large coloured gemstones is as exhilarating and enchanting with every new piece as it was with the first. When the light refracts in the depths of a large, intensely coloured gemstone, the facets reflect the light and its colour only seems to deepen as you look at it with a magnifying glass, no one's heart is left cold. This small but very vivid, even sculptural ring holds such a fascinating gemstone. It is a sapphire in a deep, warm blue. The stone is exceptionally clear and pure and an independent appraisal has also confirmed that it has not been heated or treated in any other way: Its colour, with a very slight violet tinge, has been created this way by nature alone. The stone weighs around 3.86 ct. It is oval and faceted in a star cut. The light refracts in the stone, causing bright facets in the stone to light up again and again, even though the stone itself remains rather dark. The rest of the ring also matches this intense play of light: a ring of sparkling diamonds in an unusual marquise cut frames the sapphire. They are arranged slightly rotated around the sapphire. This rotation is echoed by the actual white gold ring. The side view shows how the ring curves dramatically over the finger. The ring was created around 1980. We discovered it in the Rhineland. The expert appraisal on the quality of the materials from Idar-Oberstein is enclosed with the ring.
