Traditional Japanese Namahage folk-art object from the Oga Peninsula in Akita Prefecture. This special decorative object is inspired by the traditional Namahage culture of the Oga Peninsula, a well-known Japanese folk culture in which figures with demon masks hold an important folkloric significance. The object features a striking and expressive red-painted face with large eyes, teeth and horns. The face is combined with a characteristic long grass-like covering, giving the whole piece a highly recognizable and decorative appearance.
