Toutes les enchères / Luminaire / Uniek antiek lederen tekenmapje "carnet de bal" inclusief...

Unique antique leather drawing folder (carnet de bal) including drawings and writing implements, France, 19th century Rare, antique leather writing folder (or 'carnet de bal') from the late 19th century. This is not just a folder; it is a preserved time capsule full of elegance and refinement, perfect for collectors of antiques, lovers of calligraphy, or as a unique decorative object with a story. The folder is made of deep black leather, richly embellished with intricate, deep relief (pressed leatherwork). The detailed pattern, with floral motifs and graceful scrolls, testifies to the superb craftsmanship of the period. The front features a beautifully worked, brass-colored metal latch (decorative, no key included). The exterior exudes a robust, historical charm. When you open the folder, you are surprised by a vivid contrast: the entire interior is lined with a beautiful deep red silk or satin fabric, still remarkably well preserved. The interior is ingeniously organized and contains: - Two unique, hand-painted watercolor cards. o Card 1 (Traditional costume): A delicate, hand-painted image of three women in traditional French or European dress, with striking red headdresses. o Card 2 (Heron nest): A atmospheric sepia/watercolor drawing of a heron on a nest atop a chimney, with the French text "L'Hôte" (The Host) and a name/date ("Auguste"?). The paper edges are charmingly irregular. • Original Writing Materials: The folder contains two antique writing instruments • Other Details: An integrated small, dark inkpot and the original red fabric ribbons to secure the contents. The gadget is in good, honest antique condition. The leather shows the normal signs of aging and use (patina), which adds to the authenticity. The silk lining remains bright in color, with minimal wear. The hand-painted cards are well preserved. Such folders were commonly used in the 19th century as a 'carnet de bal' to record dance partners at formal parties, or as a personal writing/signing set during travels. It is a tangible remnant of an era of refined correspondence and social etiquette.
