Beautiful fossil specimen of Platyscutellum sp., a trilobite belonging to the family Styginidae, preserved in its original rock matrix. This remarkable trilobite is distinguished by its broad, fan-shaped pygidium with pronounced radiating ribs, a characteristic feature of scutellid trilobites. The articulated body, prominent compound eyes and detailed exoskeleton make this an attractive and scientifically interesting specimen. Trilobites were marine arthropods that inhabited ancient seas for nearly 270 million years. They first appeared during the Cambrian Period and became extinct at the end of the Permian.
