Traffic & Related

Four magnificent LPs, one of them a double album, from this magnificent British rock band. The group was formed in the late 1960s and was led by Steve Winwood, with Jim Capaldi (1944-2005), Chris Wood (1944-1983), and Dave Mason (b. 1946). Winwood joined the band after leaving the group he had been playing with until then: The Spencer Davis Group. The four members of the group met at jam sessions in various venues, and in particular at a place called The Elbow Room in Aston, Birmingham. Mason and Capaldi were eager to form a band, and Winwood joined along with Chris Wood, so they settled in a cottage in Aston Tirrold, Berkshire, to practice. Traffic's debut came in 1967 with the single "Paper Sun" in the UK. "Hole in My Shoe" was their second single, which was a great success. The band debuted with the album Mr. Fantasy, which was well-received in the UK. The band then recorded their second album, Traffic, released in 1968, which included Mason's original version of "Feelin' Alright." The band began touring the United States in 1968, which led to the release the following year of their third album, Last Exit, largely recorded live. During the tour, Mason decided to stay in the US and leave the band, prompting Winwood to announce its disbandment. Upon his return to England, he formed Blind Faith with Eric Clapton, Ginger Baker, and Ric Grech (1946–1990), a group that lasted only a year. The remaining members then started a project with Mick Weaver, better known as Wooden Frog, which consisted of live performances and no recordings. After the breakup of Blind Faith in 1969, Winwood began his solo career, and recorded an album that, before its release, due to the specific interventions of Capaldi and Wood, was published under the name of Traffic: John Barleycorn Must Die, his most successful album to date. The four LPs have vinyl records in excellent condition. The double album is like new, both the cover and the vinyl. The other three have good covers and excellent vinyl records. The 1968 TRAFFIC vinyl shows obvious signs of age, but it's an iconic record for this group and was their second album. We've also added two vinyl records from Steve Winwood's solo career, after he left the band. A very successful musical career. The covers of these two records are in good condition and the vinyl itself is in excellent condition for playback. An excellent opportunity for fans of this legendary rock band, and Steve Winwood.
