• Hand Signed by the Artist • Unique Original Artwork from the "Inspired By" Collection • Certificate of Authenticity Included • Ready to Frame Corto Maltese, the romantic sailor and adventurer created by Hugo Pratt in 1967, is one of the most iconic heroes of European comics: elegant, free and always on the move between seas and legends. In this original, Disney artist Tony Fernandez gives his navy coat, white cap and sideburns to Donald Duck. Hands in his pockets, his scarf flowing in the wind and a thin cigarette at the corner of his beak, Donald strolls along a deserted beach with the calm, detached air of a true gentleman of fortune. Seagulls glide overhead, and one, standing in the sand, watches him go with a sceptical eye. Painted in acrylic on art paper with a fresh, loose touch, the piece pays tribute to Pratt's graphic elegance, with its essential lines, bold blacks and luminous Mediterranean colours, while keeping all of Donald's unmistakable personality. A brilliant meeting between Disney and one of the great masters of European comic art. ▸ Acrylic on art paper ▸ Sheet: 39 x 29 cm (unframed) Tony Fernandez is a veteran Disney artist who has been drawing Disney's most beloved characters for more than 35 years and continues to work for Disney in Europe today.
