Toledo Piza (XIX-XX) - Paysage

Toledo Piza (Domingos Viegas de Toledo Piza, 1887-1945) is a Brazilian painter recognized for his landscapes, still lifes, and urban scenes. Trained in Paris, he studied notably at the Sorbonne and in 1913 attended the Académie de la Grande Chaumière, where he received instruction from Lucien Simon and René Ménard. Established in the Parisian artistic milieu of the interwar period, he participated in the major Parisian salons and notably exhibited at the Salon d’Automne and the Salon des Indépendants. He mingled with the avant-garde of his era, and his work bears influences from Impressionism and Post-Impressionism, particularly in the pursuit of light and the texture of paint. Sold as is, see photo, moisture marks, small tears and/or holes.
