Tissot - PR 516 - Ref. 42630-1X - Blue Sunburst Dial - Cal. 782-1 - Early 1970s --- A distinctive vintage Tissot PR 516 from the early 1970s, combining the sporty design language of the celebrated PR 516 line with an attractive blue sunburst dial, stainless-steel tonneau-shaped case and matching Tissot-signed steel bracelet. The dial is the highlight of this example, displaying a rich blue sunburst finish that changes noticeably with the light. Applied silver-tone baton hour markers, matching hands, framed date window at 3 o’clock and the characteristic red “516” inscription at 6 o’clock create a particularly appealing period look. Inside is the Swiss mechanical Tissot calibre 782-1, a 17-jewel manual-winding movement. The movement is clearly signed “CHs. Tissot & Fils” and carries serial number 13,663,105. The inside caseback is stamped with reference 42630-1X and “Acier Inoxydable”, confirming the stainless-steel construction. The angular 1970s case measures approximately 34.0 mm excluding the crown and approximately 36.5 mm including the signed crown. Its compact dimensions are balanced by the broad integrated-style bracelet, giving the watch considerably more wrist presence than the diameter alone suggests. The Tissot-signed stainless-steel bracelet measures approximately 16 cm, with the complete watch suitable for a wrist of approximately 20 cm. --- Specifications * Brand: Tissot * Model: PR 516 * Reference: 42630-1X * Period: Early 1970s * Movement: Mechanical, manual winding * Calibre: Tissot 782-1 * Jewels: 17 * Movement serial: 13,663,105 * Case material: Stainless steel * Case diameter: Approx. 34.0 mm excluding the crown * Diameter including crown: Approx. 36.5 mm * Dial: Blue sunburst * Functions: Hours, minutes, central seconds and date * Crown: Tissot-signed * Bracelet: Tissot-signed stainless-steel bracelet * Bracelet length: Approx. 16 cm * Wrist size: Suitable for approximately 20 cm wrist circumference --- Condition Very good.
