Tibetan Buddhist Thangka - Paper - Tibet - 20th century

Tibetan Buddhist Thangka with Buddha, Wrathful Deities and Mandala – Hand-painted – Framed Description A richly detailed Tibetan Buddhist thangka depicting a complex mandala composition centred on a seated Buddha figure, surrounded by wrathful deities, guardian figures, attendants, mythical creatures, flames, clouds and elaborate ornamental borders. The painting is executed in traditional Tibetan style with strong colours including red, ochre, green, blue, white and black. The composition is highly detailed, with multiple concentric decorative bands and numerous small figures arranged around the central deity. The upper section features a large wrathful face with three eyes and fangs, while the lower and side sections contain additional protective deities and symbolic figures. The work is mounted behind glass in a gold-tone metal frame with a dark inner mount. The painting shows visible signs of age and use, including fold lines, surface wear, small areas of pigment loss, rubbing, scratches and minor staining. These imperfections have been retained and are clearly visible in the detailed photographs. The frame also shows normal wear and marks consistent with use. The reverse has a plain backing board with signs of age and handling. Condition: Fair to good, considering age and type. Visible creases, pigment loss, surface wear and other age-related imperfections. Please study all photographs carefully, as they form an important part of the description.
