Old theater binoculars in mother-of-pearl and brass – with original case – late 19th / early 20th century Elegant pair of old theater binoculars, made of gilded brass and mother-of-pearl inlays, probably dating from the late 19th century or the very early 20th century. The body is dressed with wide panels of mother-of-pearl with beautiful iridescent reflections, assembled in vertical facets. The metal parts are gilded brass, with a central focus wheel and a mount featuring a sober and refined decor. The oculars and collars are also adorned with mother-of-pearl, giving the whole its especially elegant presentation, typical of theater and opera accessories from the Belle Époque. The binoculars come with their original old case, leather-covered and lined with red textile on the inside. The case shows signs of use and age visible in the photographs, notably some wear on the exterior. The binoculars are in good overall condition considering their age, with a normal brass patina and some time-related marks. The mother-of-pearl seems well preserved overall.
