The Call to Duty 1917 - Join the Army for Home and Country, American

Original American World War I recruitment poster titled The Call to Duty - Join the Army for Home and Country, issued in 1917 by the Recruiting Committee of the Mayor's Committee on National Defense. The dramatic patriotic composition depicts a uniformed Army bugler sounding the call to arms before a billowing American flag. The image was adapted from a sculpture by Italian-American sculptor Edoardo Cammilli, whose attribution appears within the poster. Published to encourage enlistment and national service during World War I, the work is a striking example of early 20th-century American military and propaganda poster design.
