The Beatles - In the Beginning 1961 (Japan) – Rare 1973...

A highly collectible Japanese white label promotional pressing of In the Beginning (1961) by The Beatles featuring Tony Sheridan, released by Polydor in 1973 under catalogue number MP-2326. This special promotional edition stands apart from standard commercial releases through its distinctive white labels—a hallmark of promo pressings—making it an attractive and sought-after piece for serious Beatles collectors. The album's significance lies in its documentation of the group's Hamburg period, capturing formative recordings from when Pete Best was still the band's drummer, before the phenomenon that would reshape popular music. Tracks such as Ain't She Sweet, Cry for a Shadow, My Bonnie offer a fascinating window into The Beatles' early musical development. The desirability of this copy is further enhanced by its complete original Japanese packaging, including the obi, original inner sleeve and insert—a rarity in itself among surviving examples. ⸻ Sleeve (VG+): A beautifully clean and well-preserved gatefold sleeve, very close to EX condition. The overall presentation is excellent, with only a single stain visible inside the gatefold preventing a higher grade. Handling and age are minimal. Insert / Inner: Original Japanese insert and original inner sleeve included and in fine condition. Obi: Original Japanese obi present, beautifully clean and well preserved. Vinyl (NM): Stunning Near Mint condition. The vinyl displays exceptional clarity and lustre with virtually no visible signs of play or wear. This is a particularly attractive example, delivering excellent audio throughout. ⸻ Details * Japan 1973 pressing * Polydor MP-2326 * White label promotional edition * The Beatles featuring Tony Sheridan * Gatefold sleeve * Original Japanese obi included * Original inner sleeve included * Original Japanese insert included
