Table clock: an absolute rarity, a so-called "Flintlock Alarm Clock"

Ca. 18 x 10 cm, copper, formerly gilt, verge movement with 2 barrels and alarm, dial mounting, single-hand, iron hands. When the alarm is triggered, the flintlock strikes the fuse on demand, igniting the candle placed inside the case, which shoots out upon ignition. A very similar alarm clock is held in the collections of the Germanisches Nationalmuseum in Nuremberg. Lit.: S. Fleet, Uhren, Frankfurt a.; n.d.; p. 35. S. Maurice, Von Uhren und Automaten, Munich 1968; fig. 29. Comparable objects: 1. https://www.cortrie.de/go/V9D 2. https://www.cortrie.de/go/wj6 3. https://www.cortrie.de/go/1em
