Synchronome, London – a historically important and rare ultra precision astronomical sidereal regulator master wall clock with inertia bar seconds switch, No. 4208B, signed 10” silvered dial with centre minutes, subsidiary seconds and Roman numeral 24 hour dial, within a glazed oak case, 55.5” high, 14.5” wide, (with pendulum and bob) ** Delivered to Jodrell Bank Observatory, New Year's Eve 1951, 4208B ** Clock 4208B was utilised as a scientific instrument for radio astronomy telemetry and deep space celestial tracking under the direction of Sir Bernard Lovell in the 1950s ** The AHS have confirmed the clock 4208 was entered as an order into a register of astronomical regulators at Synchronome on 18 May 1951. The client was noted as ‘University of Manchester, Department of Physics, Holmes Chapel, Crewe’
