Superb hand-decorated tea service - iridescent colors...

Japan – Superb antique egg-shell porcelain teaware in Kutani tradition – Geisha and Mount Fuji decor – 22 pieces A journey to early 20th century Japan – The delicacy of Japanese porcelain Let yourself be seduced by the charm and refinement of this elegant antique Japanese teapot set, composed of 11 cups and 11 matching saucers, made in fine porcelain known as “egg-shell,” particularly valued for its lightness, finesse and delicacy. Of Japanese origin, this set is stylistically attributed to the Kutani decorative tradition. Each piece features a ravishing polychrome decor inspired by traditional Japanese landscapes: an elegant female silhouette wearing a kimono, a small red bridge, vibrant floral compositions and a representation of the majestic Mount Fuji. One of the most remarkable details of this service lies in its delicate iridescent borders, with subtle purple, bluish and silver reflections that catch the light and give the whole a singular elegance. The decors, in red, blue and green tones, recall Japanese figurative compositions intended notably for the export market during the first half of the 20th century. Their fine lines and bright colours give each piece an authentically vintage charm. The saucers bear on the reverse the red marking “MADE IN JAPAN,” confirming their Japanese origin. Features * Composition: 11 cups and 11 saucers, i.e. 22 pieces. * Origin: Japan. * Style: Kutani decorative tradition, Geisha Girl Ware. * Estimated period: 20th century * Material: fine egg-shell porcelain. * Décor: polychrome Japanese scenes, flowers, red bridge, kimono-clad figure and Mount Fuji. * Finish: iridescent borders in purple, blue and silver hues. * Marking: MADE IN JAPAN, red. Condition Good vintage condition overall, considering the age of the set. The porcelain retains a nice sheen and the decors with bright colours. Some signs of time, light wear and irregularities may be observed, notably on the iridescent borders, characteristic of an antique service. The photographs allow you to appreciate the condition and features of the different pieces. Shipping Given the delicacy and fragility of this porcelain, each cup and each saucer will be carefully protected individually, then separated from the other pieces by several layers of protection. The set will be placed in reinforced packaging, specially adapted for transporting fragile objects, to ensure shipping as safe as possible. Approximate dimensions: - Plate diameter: 11.5 cm - Cup diameter: 8 cm A charming testament to early 20th century Japanese applied arts, ideal for antique porcelain enthusiasts, collectors and lovers of Japanese culture.
