Stunning Vintage Ring with a 1.60 ct Brilliant-Cut Solitaire in White

Adamant, the Indomitable—this was the name by which the hardest of all natural minerals, the diamond, was known in antiquity and the Middle Ages. This unparalleled hardness and durability made the diamond a symbol of eternity centuries ago. Nevertheless, people back then did not yet know that even the youngest diamonds are already hundreds of millions of years old. This makes it all the more fitting to set such a symbolically charged gemstone in an engagement ring, which is also meant to represent the promise of an eternal bond. The diamond in this ring features a classic brilliant cut and weighs approximately 1.60 carats. Its colour is white (H), and its inclusion pattern is lively and unique; it is what is known as a “salt and pepper” diamond. Numerous larger and smaller graphite crystals are embedded throughout the diamond crystal. A larger inclusion was also located on the side of the table and was cut through during the cutting process; a small notch is now visible on the surface here. Despite the inclusions in the stone, the diamond nevertheless possesses good brilliance—the large stone sparkles with every movement. The setting, which elevates it above the band with prongs, contributes significantly to this effect. On the left and right, it is flanked by three smaller diamonds each, which blend seamlessly into the simple band. This classic solitaire ring is crafted from white gold. Based on its shape, craftsmanship, and the diamond’s cut, the ring was made in the 1950s. A wonderful little jewel from the era of De Beers’s famous “A Diamond Is Forever” campaign, which once again cemented the diamond’s status as the ideal stone for an engagement.
