Stilart - Side table - Central Drawer - Brass, Wood - Floral Decoration

Elegant Italian entry/side table produced by Stilart in the 1970s, a piece that perfectly reflects the taste for oriental exotism and refined luxury that characterized much of European decorative design in those years. Its light, stylized structure combines architecture inspired by modern design with intricate artisanal work on black lacquered wood, evoking the refined Oriental lacquers that fascinated Western designers and decorators since the early 20th century. The rectangular body is organized around a central drawer, decorated with delicate floral motifs and sinuous branches executed in gold and polychrome tones, an ornamentation that also extends over the upper surface. These scenes recall botanical compositions from the Japanese Edo period, reinterpreted through the Italian decorative sensibility of the seventies, when oriental influences experienced a notable resurgence in luxury interiors across Europe and North America. The structure rests on slender metal legs finished in gilt brass, a Stilart hallmark that provides visual lightness and a striking contrast with the intensity of the black lacquer. The lower curved reinforcements, with a geometric and elegant stroke, introduce a sophisticated nuance close to neoclassical glamour and Hollywood design that dominated the era. The result is a piece with great decorative presence that combines functionality and aesthetic refinement. Ideal as a foyer console, an occasional table, or an accent piece in eclectic, contemporary classical, or chic oriental-inspired settings of the seventies, it stands out for the quality of its craftsmanship, the richness of its finishes, and the harmonious fusion between Japanese decorative craft and Italian interpretation of luxury.
