statuette « Les Trésors de Toutankhamon » – Franklin Mint...

Beautiful pair of two statuettes from the collection “The Treasures of Tutankhamun,” published by The Franklin Mint in 1989, comprising “Anubis – The Jackal God” and “Transformation Falcon,” representing two major deities of Egyptian mythology. These two pieces form a very elegant set devoted to funeral beliefs and the royal symbolism of ancient Egypt, with rich 24-carat gold gilding and delicate polychrome details. The first statuette, “Anubis – The Jackal God,” depicts Anubis, guardian of tombs and protector of the dead, in his iconic lying jackal form. The silhouette is particularly graceful, with its long ears raised, its slender body, and its majestic posture. The bright 24-carat gold gilding is highlighted by fine colored details at the necklace. The statuette rests on a sober black base that perfectly enhances the gilded finish. The second piece, “Transformation Falcon,” represents the falcon Horus, celestial deity closely associated with royalty and the protection of the pharaoh. The falcon is depicted in a proud and majestic stance. The plumage work is especially detailed, while the blue and red polychrome ornaments of the chest and head contrast elegantly with the 24-carat gold gilding. The statuette also rests on its black base. Presented together, these two statuettes offer a very beautiful pairing between Anubis, guardian of the funeral world, and Horus the falcon, symbol of protection and divine kingship.
