Startled Bather - Nicholas Robertson

Startled Bather by Nicholas Robertson Painting 9.8 x 11.8 :: Two sources were used for this painting the first was observing swimmers at the Cheltenham Lido UK the second was a young woman watching a street entertainer in Trafalgar sq.?? I apply the acrylic paint in successive washes to achieve a soft structure and then overpaint some areas with a more opaque pigment. I use artists hogs hair brushes to apply and manipulate the paint with large 2"" brushes to spread the washes. The work is painted on a Superior Rolled Canvas board as I like the rigidity and fine surface. Finished with a coat of Winsor & Newton Satin UV varnish this not only protects the painting but has a unifying effect. A suggested frame width of 60mm or more for this size painting.
