SPIROU - Journal Album, no. 95 Dupuis, 1964. Large-format hardcover, cloth spine, first cover illustrated in color by André Franquin. Charming collection from the Journal Spirou, corresponding to issue 95, emblematic of the full maturity of the Marcinelle school. The cover, particularly elegant, features Spirou at the piano, accompanied by the inimitable Marsupilami, whose serpentine tail animates the entire composition. The central cartouche recalls the volume’s editorial richness, bringing together a remarkable group of major series from the Dupuis house: The Smurfs, Jerry Spring, Lucky Luke, Gaston, Buck Danny, as well as numerous short stories. This issue sits in the most sought-after period of the early 1960s rigid-format collections and remains highly appreciated for its iconic Franquin cover.
