Spectacular stone relief from Vicenza depicting Bacchus, Italy, Venice

Descriptio Vicenza stone, carved in high relief. Dimensions: 131 × 60 × 15 cm. This spectacular bas-relief, carved in Vicenza stone, depicts Bacchus, the Roman god of wine and fertility, one of the most recurring deities in classical tradition and the Italian ornamental repertoire. From a private collection in Venice, the work stands out for the extraordinary quality of its execution, the expressive power of the modeling, and the exquisite anatomical treatment of the figure, masterfully achieved through carving of great depth and plastic richness. The nobility of Vicenza stone, widely used since the Renaissance in Italian architecture and sculpture for its strength and beauty, lends the piece an elegant, monumental presence. Its generous dimensions and balanced proportions allow it to be integrated into interiors, gardens, courtyards, or facades, where it constitutes a prominent decorative element of classical inspiration. The sculptural quality, excellent state of preservation, and scarcity of works of this kind on the market make this relief a piece of considerable interest to collectors and historical architectural projects. It is presented in excellent overall condition and is completely intact. This lot is in an international warehouse (within the EU). Intra-EU shipping: no import duties apply within the EU.
