Historical Background: Sony introduced the Handycam name with the CCD-M8 in 1985. Continued development led to increasingly compact cameras, including the successful “passport-sized” CCD-TR55 of 1989, helping make handheld video recording a familiar part of family life and travel. The CCD-TR820E represents a later chapter of this analogue-video tradition. Its cassette mechanism, eyepiece viewfinder and dedicated physical controls offer a tangible connection to home filmmaking before smartphones and memory-card recording became commonplace. Condition & Included Accessories: This Sony CCD-TR820E Handycam is presented in very good overall cosmetic condition for its age. The camera has been tested and is in working order. The photographs show surface scratches, scuffs and localised finish wear around the casing, lens surround and controls, consistent with normal handling over the years. The camera retains a tidy overall appearance, with clearly legible branding and most control markings. The remaining capacity and operating time of the rechargeable batteries have not been specified. Collector Interest: With its Japanese manufacture, classic Handycam styling and extensive accessory selection, this CCD-TR820E makes an appealing addition to a collection of vintage Sony electronics or analogue video equipment. Its tested working condition also adds interest for enthusiasts wishing to explore the hands-on experience of cassette-based video recording.
