Siviglia - Uomini di Mare

"Men of the Sea" – Alessandro Siviglia Oil on canvas with gold leaf embellishments. "Men of the Sea" is an oil on canvas painting, enriched with gold leaf work and framed in a vintage, antique frame, slightly worn by time, which in a sense recalls the history and the atmosphere of the work. The painting depicts **Odysseus and his companions**, what remains of his ship's crew. It's the moment when Odysseus starts to realize that, before long, he could be completely alone, seeing the men of his crew disappear day after day. A man who perhaps, deep down, did not really want to return home, too taken by his adventures, by curiosity and the desire to explore the world. **Odysseus, a brilliant, selfish and heroic man at the same time.** A fascinating and contradictory figure, capable of great deeds, but also of dragging his companions toward a tragic fate. With this work, the contemporary painter **Alessandro Siviglia** tells not only the myth of Odysseus, but also the solitude of man, the desire for adventure and the price that others often pay for our ambitions. **Artist:** Alessandro Siviglia – contemporary Italian painter **Title:** Men of the Sea **Technique:** Oil on canvas with gold leaf **Frame:** Antique, vintage, with signs of time **Subject:** Odysseus and his companions – Greek mythology, Homer’s Odyssey
