The attention to detail and craftsmanship are evident in the seamless integration of materials and the precise joints. Both cabinets are marked with the original Sibast factory label and are in very good condition. A highly desirable and functional wall unit, ideal for a stylish modern interior or design collection. A fantastic addition to any modern home, office, or interior. Please see the photos as part of the description. About the designer: Arne Vodder was born in 1926 in Denmark (so exactly 100 years ago now!). He trained as a cabinetmaker and architect and studied under Finn Juhl at the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts in Copenhagen, where he graduated in 1947. After his studies he worked as a designer at Hindsgaul in Copenhagen, where he mainly focused on office interiors. In 1950 Vodder, together with architect Anton Borg, established his own architecture and design studio. Over the years the studio moved to several locations in Copenhagen before settling in the suburb of Holte, north of the city. Together they designed furniture and a number of affordable houses. Vodder and Borg worked together until the 1970s. Vodder is best known for his furniture designs, which were typically simple and made from natural materials such as rosewood and teak, often inspired by natural forms and sometimes accentuated with colorful panels. During his career Vodder collaborated with several renowned brands and designed cabinets, tables, chairs, and more for furniture makers such as Fritz Hansen, France & Søn, Nielaus, Sibast, Kircodan (for whom he designed garden furniture), and also for the department store Havemanns Magasin A/S (for which he designed the interiors), to name just a few. Although Vodder is less well known today than some of his contemporaries, his work was highly valued during his lifetime. Between the 1950s and 1970s Vodder’s furniture designs were even used by President Jimmy Carter in the White House and President Anwar Sadat in Cairo, and could also be found in the UN office in Geneva, as well as in a number of hotels, banks, and embassies worldwide. His work was regularly exhibited, both individually and in group exhibitions with artists such as Verner Panton and Nanna Ditzel. Vodder passed away in 2009.
