Set of 3 ancient molds carved in black stone (soapstone)...

Set of 3 old molds carved into black stone (steatite) of Indian origin. In traditional Indian craftsmanship, and especially in Rajasthan, this type of hand-engraved discs is used to press biscuits, shape sweets, or to flatten and decorate chapatis. The radiating geometric motif at the center recalls a rosette or sun pattern. Rustic folk art pieces, these objects are between 60 and 80 years old. They are now highly sought after for interior decoration as trivets, coasters, or candle holders. The set weighs 2130 g. Each piece measures approximately 14 cm in diameter and 2 cm in height. The average weight is about 700 g. Antique dealer specialized in Asian arts, my positive rating is 100%. I only sell old objects acquired on site during my numerous journeys. These are by no means reproductions. In order to allow you to appreciate the quality of the objects, I am attaching numerous photos taken from various angles. These photos are an integral part of the description. All photos are taken in natural light. Carefully packaged, these objects will be delivered to your home by bpost Belgium. Ref: AH19
