SELJUK SILVER AND NIELLO RING WITH GEOMETRIC ENGRAVING

Ca. AD 1200 - 1300 A silver ring with a broad, tapering hoop and a raised square bezel with rounded corners. The flat face is engraved and inlaid in niello with a central lozenge within a double linear border, surrounded by stylised foliate scrolls in the corners. The shoulders are decorated with incised geometric motifs extending towards the plain lower section of the hoop.
