Sculpture, Leone Marzocco - 35 cm - Cast Stone

A distinctive sculpture representing the "Marzocco Lion" in all its uniqueness, fully hand-finished (stone cast). The "lion with Florentine shield" is the Marzocco, a heraldic lion that, with its right paw, holds a shield bearing the Florentine lily. It is the symbol of power and the Florentine Republic, which represented both dominance over the city and over subject territories. Its origin is tied to the figure of Mars, the Roman god, hence the name "Marzocco," which became a symbol of strength and power. Originally located in a noble garden, the sculpture is suitable for enriching interiors of refined country houses, outbuildings, or sumptuous gardens.
