Sculpture

Impressive patinated bronze sculpture representing Neptune (or Poseidon in Greek mythology), the sovereign god of the seas and oceans. This high-quality decorative piece captures the god in all his power and majesty. The figure is rendered with remarkable attention to detail: Neptune is depicted half-man, half-fish, crowned with rays, the musculature of the torso finely worked. He brandishes in his right arm a trident toward the sky in a gesture of domination, while his Triton-like body rises above the tumultuous waves. The scales of his tail, the fins, the shells and the crashing waves are sculpted with admirable realism and precision, bearing witness to careful foundry work. The two-tone patina — warm golden bronze for the body, dark brown bronze for the waves and the tail — creates a striking contrast that enhances the dynamism of the composition. The whole rests on an elegant round black marble base.
