Instagram: @sandrachinelate Interlude arises from the idea of a suspended moment, that intimate and pleasant space that interrupts the rhythm of daily life. The goblet, olives, and cutting board compose a simple scene where transparencies, reflections, and light build a measured and sophisticated balance. A small everyday ritual transformed into an image of quiet, taste, and anticipation. Sandra Chinelate, Italian-Brazilian, works on physical and existential inquiry conducted with the tools of figurative painting. Graduated in letters, and as a child a self-taught artist, she moved to Italy and, influenced by her multiple sociolinguistic gaze, conducts her painting research with the aim of promoting an encounter among different social subjects, where different ages, skin colors, passions, and human uncertainties are contemplated from a strong artist’s desire to exalt their facets, safeguarding her characters from any prejudice. She devotes herself with equal fervor to the search for detail, light, and perspective in her beloved hyperrealist technique, in which she has specialized since her early artistic experiments. Since 2005 she has exhibited in numerous solo and group shows. She works with oil and mixed media on canvas and panel. For the catalog of one of her most important solo exhibitions, she was reviewed by Roman art critic Lea Mattarella, and at the end of the review she wrote: “and if there is pain, if there is fatigue, Chinelate makes her own the words of Rumi, the medieval Sufi poet, convinced that ‘the wound is the point from which light can enter you.’” This is the law Sandra Chinelate applies to the human soul she depicts as to objects, all held in equal balance of importance and order.
