Sam Gopal - Escalator (Featuring Lemmy Kilmister on...

Ultra rare UK first pressing of Escalator by Sam Gopal on Stable (SLE 8001), signed by Sam Gopal himself at The Tabernacle, London, in 2002. Sam Gopal's Escalator stands as one of the most sought-after and elusive British progressive rock albums of the late 1960s. Originally released in 1969 on the independent Stable label, original pressings are extraordinarily scarce. This copy is further elevated by Sam Gopal's personal signature, making it an exceptional collector's piece and true holy grail for serious enthusiasts of obscure UK rock. Sam Gopal’s 1969 psychedelic masterwork Escalator is legendary among collectors largely because it features Ian "Lemmy" Kilmister—then credited as Ian Willis—years before he founded Motörhead ⸻ Sleeve (VG+): The gatefold sleeve presents in strong condition, showing only light shelfwear consistent with careful handling and storage. Clean presentation with no major damage or defacement, grading VG+ overall. Vinyl (EX): The vinyl is in excellent condition with a lovely gloss finish. Only very light surface marks are visible, with clean labels showing minimal spindle wear. Playback is superb throughout, grading EX. ⸻ Details * UK first pressing * Stable SLE 8001 * Original gatefold sleeve * Signed by Sam Gopal (2002) * Stereo * Made in Great Britain ⸻ Matrix / Stampers * SLE 8001A * SLE 8001B ⸻ Final Remarks An extraordinary and virtually unobtainable copy, offering: * Ultra rare UK Stable 1st pressing * Personal signature by Sam Gopal * EX vinyl with clean playback * Strong VG+ gatefold sleeve A true holy grail for collectors of obscure 1960s British progressive rock—Sam Gopal's Escalator is rarely encountered in any condition, and a signed copy remains one of the most coveted records in the genre. # The Catawiki memorabilia expert approves of these signatures and considers them to be authentic.
