Descriptio Oil on canvas. Dimensions: 147 x 110 cm (155 x 118 cm with frame). Depiction of Saint Jerome, semi-nude, in a penitent pose, flagellating himself with a stone and contemplating a crucifix. At his feet are books, a skull, and a lion, classic attributes of the saint. The dramatic chiaroscuro and the defined musculature reveal the tenebrist influence of 17th-century Spanish Baroque.
