The Quartz Matrix components constitute the transparent and smoky crystalline base of the piece. Rutile, visible in the form of acicular needles of metallic golden-yellow color, arranged radially (the so-called "rutile stars"), and hematite represents the dark gray or metallic black base, with a lamellar (blade-like) structure from which rutile crystals originate and grow epitaxially.
