Large Erivan Extra rug, handmade and accompanied by its own original certificate of authenticity, kept together with the rug. The certificate bears the designation “ORIENTAL – ERIVAN EXTRA”, the identifying number 13533, the wording “handmade” and the dimensions 342 × 240 cm. This is a rug of considerable size, with a surface area of about 8.2 m², characterized by a classic decorative layout of Oriental and Persian inspiration. The central field, in beige/ivory tones, features an elegant central medallion in shades of blue, pink and burgundy, surrounded by a dense floral decoration arranged in a balanced manner. The main border, on a deep blue background, is adorned with large vegetal and floral motifs, flanked by several secondary frames in burgundy, pink, light blue and green. The Erivan type, produced in Romania and in particular in the Transylvania region during the second half of the 20th century, was known for its sturdy hand craftsmanship and designs inspired by classic large Persian carpets. This specimen belongs to the quality indicated on the certificate as “Erivan Extra.” The construction is consistent with the traditional Romanian Erivan of the era, with wool pile on a cotton foundation and hand-knotted work. The rug is presented in good overall condition, with normal and light signs of use compatible with its age. The pile still appears well represented and the pattern retains good readability and color liveliness. The fringes, the borders, the back and the knotting structure are documented in detail in the photographs. Particularly interesting is the presence of the original certificate, which will be delivered together with the rug and constitutes an integral part of the lot.
