ROMAN STONE INTAGLIO OF A DOLPHIN IN SILVER RING

Ca. AD 50 - 200. A stone intaglio engraved with a dolphin diving towards stylised waves, its body curved and tail raised behind. The gem is set in a recessed cell within a narrow collar of a possibly later silver ring, with a broad flat-section hoop, bevelled outer edges and shoulders widening towards the raised circular bezel.
