Roberto Mauro - Nerissa di Velanotte - La verità nell'ombr

erissa di Velanotte Nerissa belonged to a reserved family, known for the vast collection of manuscripts kept in her palace. During a dispute threatening to divide the city, she discovered among those documents a letter capable of restoring the truth. She chose to reveal it without asking for any reward, preventing an innocent person from being condemned. The plum-colored veil represents the discretion with which she protected the secret, while the single glowing earring symbolizes the truth that emerges from the shadow. Her stern face tells of the weight of a decision taken in solitude. Oil portrait on linen canvas, created in 2026, height 40 cm, width 30 cm Created by an Italian artist, signed, in a unique edition, in perfect condition Supplied with certificate of authenticity This work belongs to the series Imagined Noblewomen, born from a personal study of historical portraiture, chiaroscuro, and the portrayal of women characters who never existed. Each figure possesses an original identity and story, subsequently interpreted by hand through oil painting. (The character and the story are fictional works, conceived by me as part of the painting’s narrative.)
