Robert Llimós (1943) - Dialogue

Robert Llimós is a renowned Spanish painter and sculptor born in Barcelona on October 19, 1943. Awarded the Generality of Catalonia’s Plastic Arts Prize in 1994, his career took a radical turn from 2009 after living a supposed experience of witnessing and interacting with extraterrestrial beings on a Brazilian beach. Since then, he has concentrated almost entirely on portraying these beings with long necks and large eyes. Key aspects of his career • Beginnings and Evolution: Trained at the Escola Massana and at the Escola Superior de Belles Arts Sant Jordi, he moved through New Figuration, conceptual art (even participating in the prestigious Documenta 5 in Kassel) and Expressionism. • Notable urban works: He is the creator of the famous Miraestels (Looking at the Stars), floating sculptures of white silhouettes situated in the waters of Port de Barcelona. • The ufological turn: After his experience in Brazil, he founded the Fundació Llimós and has exhibited his paintings and sculptures with alien themes at ufology conferences and international galleries.
