Rituale Massoneria [Manuscript] - Sixieme Grade Secrétaire Intime - 1800-1899

Manuscript in French on laid paper, original binding in cardboard covered with black paper that is heavily worn and flaking at the margins, with a worn spine and corners. Unbound volume, with some sheets loose. Dimensions: about 27 × 21 cm. The codex contains the ritual of the Sixth Degree – Intimate Secretary, one of the higher degrees of the Scottish Rite. The traditional sections are clearly readable: • description of the Lodge and the decoration (Salle d’audience de Salomon), • opening and closing of the works, • obligation and oath, • signs, pass-words and sacred words (Johaben, Jehova, etc.), • catechism interrogation, • reception of the candidate with the symbolic participation of Solomon and Hiram King of Tyre. The work dates to the early nineteenth century and represents an authentic document of the French Masonic tradition of the Scottish Rite. The ritual manuscripts of higher degrees, handwritten and intended for internal use within the lodges, are today extremely rare on the antiquarian market, both for the secretive nature of the content and for the fragility of the medium. Complete and legible copies like this constitute pieces of great collectible and historical-documentary interest. General conditions: unbound, with loose sheets and wear typical of age, but the text is entirely legible.
