Elegant white porcelain oval tray from the Richard Ginori manufactory, characterized by a refined polychrome decoration inspired by the art of bonsai and Japanese figurative culture. At the center of the composition is depicted a bonsai with a sinuous form, its brown trunk finely outlined and a broad, light, and ramified crown rendered in various shades of reddish-brown. The tree is placed inside a small rectangular vase, accompanied by tufts of vegetation that contribute to creating the effect of a real miniature landscape. The edge is embellished with a thin green border, a feature that discreetly frames the white field of porcelain. The composition is particularly interesting for its minimalist and elegant character: the large white space surrounding the bonsai enhances the central subject and recalls the importance of empty space in Eastern aesthetics.
