Rhodolite Garnet – Memento Mori Necklace – Cross to...

Garnet Rhodolite – Memento Mori Necklace – Cross to Eternal Life - Inner strength, courage and vitality A necklace of character with strong symbolic meaning, composed of 85 round rhodolite garnet beads, carefully polished and arranged with the intermediation of small golden elements. The stones display deep purplish-red and violet-red tones, ranging from dark plum to wine red, with occasional brighter nuances. Their polished surface reveals a beautiful vitreous luster as well as the inclusions and internal variations inherent to the stone. The golden elements provide a particularly bright contrast with the depth of the rhodolite garnet. In the center sits a large golden cross with a ribbed decorative pattern, whose silhouette echoes that of the Christian cross. Its composition is distinguished by a succession of raised skulls arranged along the vertical axis, down to the central part of the cross. The combination of the Cross and the skulls fits into the Memento Mori tradition, a Latin expression reminding humans of the ephemeral nature of earthly existence. In Christian iconography, however, this representation is not limited to evoking the end of life: placed on the Cross, it can also be understood as an invitation to meditation, humility, and awareness of human destiny, while the Cross bears the Christian message of faith, hope, and eternal life.
