Replica of an Ancient Greek Terracotta tanagra - 0.37 cm

Beautiful replica of an archaeological terracotta reproduction. The term "tanagrine" derives from "TANAGRA," the ancient city of Greece. The term was adopted to define terracotta figurines of a type similar to those found in places like Centuripe and in other areas of Magna Graecia. They depict delicate and graceful girls, in many cases dancers; the production of these terracotta figurines developed in Centuripe around the 3rd century BCE, and the figurines were used as popular funerary offerings. Centuripe will earn the title of Tanagra of Sicily. Maestro Rosario Muni Centuripe Sicily Italy
