Silver reliquary pendant – Virgin of the Seven Sorrows – Spain, early 19th century Oval silver reliquary pendant, finely engraved on both faces: a pelican feeding its young, symbol of Christ's sacrifice, and the Mystic Lamb lying on the altar, evoking the Passion. The reliquary opens by a hinge and preserves under glass an old devotional image representing the Virgin of the Seven Sorrows (Mater Dolorosa), the heart pierced by seven swords. Decor engraving of foliage and geometric motifs. Stamps present on the bale, not identified with certainty. Beautiful patina and old wear, notably on the interior engraving.
