Relief, Porseleinen wandreliëf ‘Alt Meissen Art’ –...

Porcelain wall relief ‘Alt Meissen Art’ – romantic scene at Sanssouci A musical moment, captured in refined white relief. This atmospheric wall piece shows a flute-playing gentleman beside an elegantly dressed lady, surrounded by flowers and a garden trellis overgrown with grapevines. The gold accents and matching frame give the presentation a warm, classical look. The relief has a beautiful depth effect. The figures stand out prominently, while the garden work in the background is more subtly worked out. Details such as the pleated dress, the curled hairstyles, the flower basket, and the decorations on the costume make the scene particularly attractive to view up close. The label on the back bears the designation ‘Alt Meissen Art’ and describes the scene as a view from the Sanssouci palace park around 1750–1760. These dates refer to the depicted period; the manufacturing date of the wall piece has not been established. Sanssouci in Potsdam was built between 1745 and 1747 as Frederick the Great’s summer residence. Music, art and relaxation were central there. The romantic garden scene nicely complements that world and the playful Rococo atmosphere. A decorative wall object for lovers of porcelain reliefs, romantic scenes and classical interiors.
