Toutes les enchères / Ethnographie / Rare Multi-Fish Lycoptera Fossil Plate - Fossilised...

Attractive fossil plate preserving several Lycoptera fish together on the same slab, creating a particularly decorative and interesting association. The specimens are preserved in different orientations across the fine-grained matrix, with numerous anatomical details visible, including skulls, vertebral columns, ribs, fins and delicate fin rays. Several individuals are especially well defined, while additional partial fish remains can also be observed around the plate. Lycoptera was a small freshwater teleost fish characteristic of the famous Early Cretaceous deposits of northeastern China, and is one of the best-known fish genera associated with the Jehol-type fossil ecosystems. What makes this specimen particularly appealing is the presence of multiple individuals on a single natural plate, offering a snapshot of an ancient freshwater environment dating back well over 100 million years. Fossil: Lycoptera sp. Type: Multiple fossil fish plate Origin: China Period: Early Cretaceous Age: Approximately 125–120 million years Material: Fossil fish in sedimentary matrix Preservation: Multiple specimens with visible skeletal and fin details The slab shows natural fractures and areas of preparation consistent with fossil extraction and conservation. Please examine all photographs carefully, as they form an integral part of the description. A highly decorative specimen and an excellent addition to a fossil fish or natural history collection.
